The ones we love.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Here's to the ones we love. Please remember to be thankful for the people in your life. Maybe it's hokey, but I don't think it can hurt to have a day dedicated to remembering all that we can be thankful for. Hopefully, we're remembering more than just once a year!!!

Ready for Spring.

The irony of these shorter days is that they seem twice as long to me. Every autumn, I find myself wishing I could curl up and hibernate until the spring comes again. I'm missing long, warm days with grass between my toes and sunshine on my face.

Shooting a wedding the first weekend in October was fantastic. Seeing bright, glowing faces, happiness, love, joy, it was wonderful. Every wedding I photograph reminds me of the day my best friend became my husband.

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Zimmerman!

On July 14th, Nathaniel and I had the great honor of photographing the wedding of two old friends, Andy and Lindsey. It felt like a big reunion - so many people were there that I haven't seen in years.

What a beautiful couple and a happy day. We had a great time.

Gardening Garden Fiends

Nathaniel and I have been working on the garden and finding such a simple and rewarding joy. In front of the house there are mammoth sunflowers, cosmic orange blossoms and morning glories, to climb the side of the house. In the garden plot we have a myriad of vegetables and a place in the back where morning glories will climb the deer fence and make a beautiful little getaway for us. It's been a lot of fun.

On Sunday, I met with a couple getting married in August. It's always so nice to hear about the different plans and ideas couples come up with to make their special day Theirs. Weddings are so beautiful and I'm always excited to be a part of them!

Fresh Starts

I'm looking forward to a lot in 2012! In just a few weeks I am so excited to be photographing the arrival of beautiful new baby just outside of Oley. In a few months, two of my childhood friends are getting married. Two different brand new beginnings and I get to be there for both! I can't wait!

20 Weeks.

It's taken long enough, but a photo gallery is finally in the works. It's kind of funny to me that my passion was so firmly rooted in pregnancy and birth photography before I ever became pregnant. These last several months have been a really amazing affirmation that this is what I want to be doing. I love our baby - I love this 'mommy' feeling that's growing and developing with this little person inside of me. It's such a surreal, truly incredible experience. This photo was taken today - I'm officially 20 weeks pregnant. Five months, how did that happen???

Stay tuned for details on this gallery! Every penny will be going towards the cost of a natural home birth, which is not covered by insurance. Incidentally, all compensation for my photography services currently is being allocated for this purpose as well. So if you have an event coming up - a wedding, a birthday party, an award ceremony, anything - or if you'd just like some up-to-date family photos, be sure to let me know!

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Dennery!

Saturday was a big day for me!  Nathaniel and I got up around 6:45 to get ready for our trip to Washington D.C. where we attended the vow-renewal ceremony of my cousin and her husband.  The service was absolutely beautiful and although I promised I wouldn't lose it, I did start crying halfway through!

We couldn't stay after the service because we had to get back home to Philly in time to shoot an old friend's wedding.  If Saturday was a big day for me, just think - Alyssa and Ted got married!

What a beautiful couple.  I don't think I'll ever get tired of shooting weddings - I love seeing the happiness and joy that two people share together.  Alyssa and Ted were absolutely glowing all day, it was amazing.  I was so honored to be able to document this big day in their lives!

Weddings!

I love weddings!  Ever since I was in my own I tend to think they're just about one of the best things that can happen in life!

I am so honored and excited to be shooting the wedding of an old friend and her fiancé in just over two weeks!  They are such a sweet and happy couple and I wish them all the best in the world.

And now, for something completely different.

Last night, Nathaniel and I had the pleasure of doing an engagement shoot with our wedding photographer, Faye Murman.  Faye is also a professional photojournalist and a teacher at Temple University.

We had so much fun!  The three of us wandered through the park where Nathaniel carved our initials on a tree so many months ago, wading through ivy and splashing in the creek.  Faye was an absolute joy to work with - she has a perfectly professional attitude and is constantly looking for unique and beautiful opportunities, but she keeps a laid back, friendly demeanor that makes it easy to open up and get good photos.

My time at Temple is teaching me a lot, but a great deal of it is not in a text book.  There is a lot of value to make your subjects feel comfortable - it allows you to get incredible photos like this one!

Three months and one week!

It's so bizarre to think that in just over three months I am going to be a wife.  Have I reached "grown-up" at long last?  Can I now begin this long and complex journey to wrinkly and rocking-chair?  I'm excited.

Yesterday was muggy and 80 degrees, but it could have been worse, and out in my backyard it actually felt pretty nice, so I decided to take a few pictures.  I'm going to miss my backyard so much when we move.  I'm hoping for something equally beautiful, or even more-so.

There was a nice soft light underneath the trees that I took advantage of for these.  It really feels like walking into another world out there, I love it.  I wanted to plant a garden but I feel now sort of like there's not much of a point if I'll be leaving in just a few short months.

In other news, things are finally in the works for my Canon 5D Mark II and 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8 lenses!  So excited!!! I should, if all things go according to plan, have them in the next few weeks so I can familiarize myself with them before the wedding I'm shooting in August.  Can't wait!
